Seattle

Seattle sits at the heart of Cascadia, the nation-state people in Washington and Oregon fantasize about creating every time they contemplate the seething insanity of the rest of the United States. Located on the edge of the ocean and adjacent a rain forest, it’s temperate, if famously rainy. Yet all that rain has the advantage of forcing people to get creative with their indoor activities, which led to an overwhelming amount of culture, great food, music, vibes, and, of course, coffee shops. Whether you’re coming to pay your respects to the ghost of Kurt Cobain or just get a little closer to Canada’s border – you know, in case these next few years don’t pan out – you’ll never regret visiting. And neither will your wallet – Seattle is, in this writer’s experience, about 1,000,000 times cheaper to party in than New York. That’s reason enough to grab your favorite flannel shirt and head on out to the PNW.
